Wood – Brass – Paper – Music Box –
Vanishing Music refers to the deep interconnection of music as intangible matter and the source of the music, tangible material. At the very moment of sounding, the perforated paper, as the material carrier of the composition, score and source at the same time, is destroyed and emerges again, cut up in pieces on the floor. The music cannot exist here outside of the physical space of the work itself: its becoming and being is coupled to this object. The pile of remnant strips on the floor thus becomes a reminder of the physical fixedness of the sound that should not be overlooked.
