Uprooted and transplanted, yet never quite able to put down roots. This is the basic conundrum of many a migrant’s life. Maria Colusi, a Berlin-based dancer and choreographer, knows it only too well. With her project Displaced/Angekommen, the Argentinean artist brings this feeling to the stage: How do bodies move in the space between old and new homes? How can an artist translate the life experience of people that are forever torn between here and there, past and future, expectations and reality into a tangible creative expression? Colusi uses her family’s history as an intimate metaphor for the conflicts that migrants face on a daily basis, and she materializes them on stage and on paper through the movements of her body. Displaced/Angekommen is inspired by two pictograms from the image archive of the Migrantas collective. The music and sound for the piece was created by Argentinian composer Edgardo Rudnitzky.
